Anthony Joseph Albin, age 91, passed away at his home on Thursday, December 20, 2012, following a lingering illness. Tony was born January 1, 1921 in Detroit, the son of the late Michael & Victoria (Jakubczyk) Albin. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was united in marriage with the former Anna Rose Kupiec on May 9, 1942 in Wilmot. Anna preceded him in death on December 2, 2010. Tony spent his life in manufacturing, with his last position at General Cable for twenty years in machine repair, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro, the Caro Knights of Columbus Council #3224 and a life member of the Caro Moose Lodge. Tony enjoyed fishing, dancing and playing cards. He also loved listening to Polish music, and in his younger years played drums, harmonica and the button box accordion in his familys Polish band. Tony is survived by nine children and their spouses, Anthony & Judy Albin of Flint, Peter & Cheri Albin of Clio, Stanley Albin of Caro, Catherine & John Jordan of Caseville, Philip & Rose Albin of Caro, Mary Mwiwa of Caro, Rosanne Albin of Akron, Paul & Alesia Albin of Grand Rapids, Vincent Albin of Caro; twenty grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother and his wife, John & Judy Albin of Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews. Tony was preceded in death by five brothers, Braunislaus, Joseph, Walter, Chester and Leonard Albin; and his adopted brothers and sisters, Ignatius Wieczorek, Steve Wieczorek, Frances Muz and Lottie Sleight. In keeping with Tonys wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk officiating. A Rosary Service will be held at the church at 9:30 AM on Saturday. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass at 11:00 AM. Following the mass, military honors will be afforded by the Caro American Legion Post #7 and the United States Army. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Albin Family Discretionary Fund.
