Betty Hines

Betty L. Hines of Griswold, Connecticut, formerly of Caro, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, age 85 years, She was born December 16, 1927, the daughter of the late Wilbert and Fannie (Crow) Book. Betty graduated from high school in Memphis, Michigan with the class of 1945, where she met her high school sweetheart, Dale Hines. They were married on September 13, 1947 after Dales discharge from the U.S. Army. The couple cherished sixty-three years of marriage before Dales passing on September 27, 2010. Betty was a resident of Caro for forty-five years, and was a longtime volunteer for Helpline, beginning in the early 1970s for the crisis line. For many years, she taught Sunday School at the Caro United Methodist Church, and drove bus for the Tuscola Intermediate School District. Betty was an avid artist, seamstress, reader, and traveler. Betty had no formal college degree, but often humorously referred to her Ph.T degree, “Putting Hubby Through.” Betty is survived by four children and their spouses, Loren “Rip” & Sherri Hines of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Craig Hines and his fianc
