Charlene Zimmer

Charlene Marie Zimmer, age 64, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012 at St. Marys of Michigan in Saginaw, following a lingering illness. The former Charlene Ignash was born March 12, 1947 in Bad Axe to the late Leonard and Esther (Wrubel) Ignash. On September 13, 1975, she was united in marriage with Norman Zimmer at St. Marys Catholic Church in Kinde. Char was a graduate of Kinde High School with the class of 1968. In 1972, she hired into Saginaw Steering Gear and worked there until her retirement in June of 2001. The Zimmers moved to rural Mayville in 1975 where they have lived since. Char and Norman retired on the same day, and have enjoyed their retirement to the fullest, fishing, trips to casinos, travel, and attending car shows. Most winters they spent two months in Florida. In earlier years she loved baking, canning, bowling, and playing cards. Char is survived by her husband, Norman Zimmer of Mayville; one brother, Douglas Ignash of Kinde; a sister-in-law, Fay Ignash of Detroit; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Duane Ignash and infant brother, Patrick. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Marys Catholic Church in Kinde at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 with Rev. Andrew Booms officiating. Rite of Committal will follow at the church cemetery in Kinde. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. The Rosary will be recited on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or the charity of the donors choice.
