Gene Weis, age 57, of Caro died at his residence surrounded by his family and Hospice of Hope. He was born on December 13, 1953 in Cass City to Helen (Dwyer) Weis and the late Carl (Dick) Weis. Gene was a 1972 graduate of Caro High School, and on June 2, 1979 he married the former Kay Darbee in Caro. He served an apprenticeship and became a tool and die maker, last working at Bradford Tool and Die. He was a life member of the NRA and a sponsor of Ducks Unlimited. Gene enjoyed hunting and the great outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Kay; his mother, Helen Weis of Caro; his siblings, Wanda Obertein of Caro, and Wendy (Larry) Romain of Caro; his mother-in-law, Alma Darbee of Caro, a sister-in-law, Karen (Terry) Barrons of Caro; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his father, Gene was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Willard Darbee. A memorial service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Thursday July 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ronald Wigand officiating. In accordance with Genes wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Home Care, Hospice of Hope; Ducks Unlimited; or the Johnny Burke Childrens Foundation.
