Frank C. Middaugh, age 85, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2008 at his home, following a brief illness. Frank was born August 6, 1922 in Caro, the son of the late Kenneth & Mabel Mae (Hutchinson) Middaugh and was a lifelong area resident. Following his graduation from Caro High School with the class of 1941, Frank enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. Following his discharge in 1946, Frank was united in marriage with the former Gertrude A. Fox on August 30, 1946. She preceded him in death earlier this year on March 19. Frank spent most of his working life with the Tuscola County Road Commission as a equipment operator, retiring after twenty-eight years of service in 1983. He was honored with the Volunteer of the Year Award by Tendercare Cass City in 1984. Frank loved being out of doors, be it in the garden, fishing, tending to his bees, hunting with his bow or just watching the birds. Frank was a member of the Caro VFW Post #4164 and was always proud to serve on its Honor Guard at veteran burials Frank is survived by nine children and their spouses, Margaret Spencer of Essexville, David & Jennifer Middaugh of Caro, twins Derrill of Caro and Merrill Middaugh of Oscoda, Barbara Pomeroy of Deford, Jerry Middaugh and fiance Lorie Galbraith of Hemlock, Mary Ann & Mike Lucik of Caro, Edward Middaugh of Port Austin, Mark & Lisa Middaugh of Oscoda; many grandchildren, great and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Theron L. & Diane Middaugh of Cass City; one sister, Florence Karr Tuttle of Cass City and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Frank was preceded in death by one son, Dale Middaugh in 1977; a grandson, Devin Seigo in 1998; and his brother Robert Middaugh.
