Howard Ellis, age 72, passed away at St. Marys of Michigan in Saginaw on Saturday, February 20, 2010 following a lingering illness. Jim was born November 18, 1937 in Caro, the son of the late Howard “Baldy” and Anne (Baranic) Ellis. Following graduation from Cass City High School, Jim spent the next two years at Central Michigan University. He was united in marriage with the former Sharon McKulsky on June 27, 1959 in Cass City. The couple spent most of their life in Bad Axe, and enjoyed the last seven years in Florida, before coming back to Caro in July of 2009. For approximately ten years, Jim was employed at U.S. Manufacturing in Bad Axe, retiring on disability in 1994. He was a lifelong member of the Catholic faith and enjoyed being outdoors, camping, playing golf, arts and crafts and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Jim is survived by his wife of over fifty years, Sharon Ellis of Caro; four children and their spouses, Kelli Jo & Wayne Robinson of Caro, Jami Sue Ritter of Auburn Hills, Terri Anne & Michael Fitzgerald of Heiskell, Tennessee, Steven James & Carmin Ellis of Kingston; eleven grandchildren, Justin and Corey Robinson, Joshua, Andrew, Christopher and Megan Ritter, LCpl Sharon Lutz, USMC, Jessica Carl, JohnMichael Fitzgerald, Caitlin and Cole Ellis; two great-grandchildren, Emily Carl and Caiden Lutz.; two brothers and their wives, John & Sally Ellis of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Thomas & Alice Ellis of East Lansing; and two nephews.
