James Hoard

James W. Hoard, age 82, passed away Friday, March 30, 2007 at Caro Community Hospital, following a lingering illness. He was born September 10, 1924 in Detroit, the son of the late Glen Millie (Robinson) Hoard. Jim was an Aerial Gunner on a B-17 Bomber with the Army Air Corps during World War II. After returning from the war, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Fent on April 9, 1949 in Vassar. Jim was employed at Eaton Foundry as a core maker for thirty-nine years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Watrousville United Methodist Church, past Master and life member of the Vassar Masonic Lodge #164, a member of Tuscola County Senior Citizens and a founding member of the Rocking Eights Square Dance Club. Jim is survived by his wife of nearly fifty-eight years, Elizabeth Hoard; three children and their spouses, David Tina Hoard of Cass City, Cathy Brian T. Watson of Clio, Daniel Sally Hoard of Watrousville; four grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer Kent Winter of Midlothian, VA, Eric Jenni Hoard of Millington, Rachel Ryan Woody of Chicago, IL, and Anne Hall of Flint; two great-grandsons, Conner Winter and Jonathon Hoard; one sister and her spouse, Geraldine Stanley Henry of Caro and several nieces and nephews.
