JoAnn Retta Freeland, age 75, of Caro passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Hills & Dales General Hospital in Cass City. She was born on August 27, 1934 in Mayville, Michigan to the late Fred J. and Leola (Wright) Freeland. JoAnn was stricken with Polio at age 16, and never took a husband. She was a Medical Records Librarian and has worked in Florida, Illinois and in Michigan at Saginaw General and St. Lukes Hospitals. JoAnn enjoyed writing, reading and crafts as well as being the keeper of the family. In June of 1992, she moved to the Caro Senior Commons where she made many close and dear friends and was involved in fund raising and putting out the Senior Commons newspaper. She was a member of the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility Forget-Me-Nots and a former member of the Tuscola Community Church. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers, Dorothy J. Hoover, David LeRoy Freeland Sr. and Wright Freeland; and a niece Roxanne Colburn. A memorial service will be held at the Caro Senior Commons, 1601 W. Gilford Rd., Caro, Michigan on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. with Mr. David Lyer officiating. There will be no visitation at the Collon Funeral Home.
