John Killinger

John Herman Killinger, age 82, of Caro passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at his home. He was born on March 27, 1928 in Gagetown to the late Herman and Io (Dangler) Killinger. John Killinger and the former Shirley Wood were married on April 12, 1952 in Fairgrove. She preceded him in death on September 22, 2007. John was a Korean War veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a sheet metal finisher for General Motors at Fisher Body in Flint until his retirement. He was a member of the Caro V.F.W. Post #4164, Caro Moose Lodge #1049, and F.O.E. #3587. He was a follower of NASCAR, worked with wood, loved to cook, and was an avid hunter. He is survived by two daughters, two sons and their spouses, Laurene (David) Dicks of Caro, David (Lori) Killinger of Gagetown, Cindy Warren of Caro, and Richard Killinger of Caro; sixteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; his siblings, Joyce (Lloyd) Harder of Pigeon, Bob (Barb) Killinger of Flint, Ron Killinger of Pigeon, and Danny (Lois) Killinger of Sebewaing; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Pinkoski; and a grandson, Jason Dicks. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Jerome Bouverette officiating. Military honors will be afforded by Caro V.F.W. Post #4164. Cremation will follow the service, with entombment at the Indianfields Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the John Killinger family discretionary fund, c/o David Killinger.
