June Crosby

June Crosby, age 87 years, of Caro, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at her home. She was born on August 8, 1920 in Fairhaven Township of Huron County to the late Harry and Maude (Furman) Weeks. The former June Weeks and Alvin S. Crosby were united in marriage in 1941 in Caro. He preceded her in death on February 13, 1994. June attended St. Marys School of Nursing and held a license as a Registered Nurse. She also had studied horticulture at Michigan State University. She worked for a period of time as the office nurse for Dr. Norma Anderson, but spent most of her life as a homemaker. Her life also involved her love for the Lord and she served as a former member and secretary of the First Baptist Church Womens Fellowship Group, a Sunday school teacher for thirteen years, and was active in various other church committees. June was currently a member of the Colwood United Brethren in Christ Church. She loved her flower gardens, reading, and the companionship of family and friends. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Renee Gene and Joseph OKelly of Caro; two grandchildren, Scott (Luanne) Shaw of Grand Rapids and Aime (Kevin) Thurber of Grand Rapids; one great-grandson, Caleb Shaw; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings, four sisters and one brother. The funeral service will be held at the Colwood United Brethren in Christ Church on Friday, June 20, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Phil Whipple and her grandson, Dr. Scott Shaw, officiating. Burial will follow at Indianfields Township Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and at Colwood United Brethren in Christ Church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Caro Area District Library for the purpose of purchasing childrens books.
