Leslie Floyd Nicholas, age 59 years, of Caro, died suddenly on Friday, March 23, 2007 at his residence. He was born on September 8, 1947 in Cass City to Floyd and Martha (Preba) Nicholas. He was a graduate of Cass City High School and a lifelong resident of Tuscola County. Upon graduation from high school, he was employed at Saginaw Steering Gear. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp until he received a hardship discharge to assist his family upon the death of his father. After his return, he worked for Sergeant Sand and Gravel doing roadwork, and from 1971 until his retirement in 1999, he worked as a delivery driver for UPS. On September 9, 1988 Les married the former Linda Mott of Auburn. He loved gardening, hunting and fishing. Les was an active member of M.A.R.C., the Ellington Church of the Nazarene, as well as the Mid Michigan Emmaus Board. He is survived by his wife, Linda; two daughters, Shelley Lynn (Greg) Erla of Metamora and Melissa Miron of Grand Blanc; several grandchildren; his step-son, Jim (Leeza) Bacon and their daughters Jamie and Virginia of Midland; his mother, Martha (Margie) Nicholas of Cass City; siblings, Judy (Larry) Merchant, Dan Nicholas, Mary (Richard) Tate of Cass City, Ken (Sally) Nicholas of Bad Axe, Rose (Jim) Apley, Terry (Melanie) Nicholas and Paul Nicholas of Cass City; his mother-in-law, Mary Mott; brothers-in-law, Tim (Brenda) Mott and Gary (Judy) Mott, all of Midland; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Nicholas. The funeral service will be held at the Ellington Church of the Nazarene on Monday, March 26, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ron Comfort officiating. Military honors will be afforded by Caro V.F.W. Post #4164. In accordance with Les wishes, cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Ellington Church of the Nazarene Building Fund.
