Lila Powell

Lila Powell of Fairgrove, age 87, passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at her home. Lila was born June 21, 1928 in Caro, the daughter of the late Lincoln and Carrie (Beyette) Skinner. She was united in marriage with Harold J. Powell on November 5, 1945 in Fairgrove. Harold preceded her in death on November 22, 2010. Lila enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, going out to eat, and the Red Hat Society. She also liked singing in her church choir and helping at the Fairgrove Bean Festival. Lila is survived by four children and their spouses, Leeila & Warren Miller of Fairgrove, Harold James Powell, Jr. & Merrie of Unionville, Gary & Laura Powell of Fairgrove, Ron & Brenda Powell of Boynton Beach, Florida; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a niece, Norma Swires of Westland; and a son-in-law, Leonard Lubaczewski of Caro. In addition to her parents and husband, Lila was preceded in death by one daughter, Delores Lubaczewski. In keeping with Lila's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Watrousville United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Sanders officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Brookside Cemetery in Fairgrove.
