Margie Proper

Margie Proper of Akron, age 82, passed away at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on Monday, August 10, 2020. Margie was born October 9, 1937 at home in Akron, the daughter of the late Eldon & Florence (Ordway) Bills. She was united in marriage with John Phillip Proper in 1957 and celebrated forty-three years of marriage until his passing in 2000. Margie was most recently employed as an elder caregiver in the area, and previously worked at the Caro Big Lots Store and Johnson's Potato Farm. She was a member of the Fairgrove VFW Auxiliary and could often be found playing Bingo or visiting casinos. Margie was a fantastic cook and baker and her homemade bread will be deeply missed. She adored her grandchildren and will be remembered for her selfless spirit, always ready to help someone in need. Left to cherish Margie's memory are her six children and their spouses, John Proper, Mary Clark and her significant other, Brian Nitz, Dwain & Donna Proper, Carl & Michelle Proper, Rose & Stephan Wilding, Dave Proper and his significant other, Corrissa Beardsley; grandchildren, Markis Proper, Jessica Proper, Scott Clark, Randy Clark, Jamie Clark, Dwain Allen Proper, Jr., Brandon Lee Proper, Brandy A. Proper, Nicole Proper, Karly Proper, Corey McIntosh, Stephan Wilding, Tori Wilding, Travis Wilding, Kingsley Proper and Alexis Yax; many great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eldon Bills, Jr., Floyd Bills and wife, Charlene. In addition to her parents and husband, Margie was preceded in death by her step-father, Carl Cousens; one daughter, Charlene Proper; two grandchildren, Rocky J. Clark and Jason Proper; five siblings, Chuck, Asa, Margaret, Bob and Elnora. The Proper family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Thursday, August 13, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Cremation will follow the gathering with burial to occur at a later date at the Brookside Cemetery in Fairgrove.
