Marlene Knight

Marlene Knight, age 76 years, of Lee Hill Road, Caro, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2008 at her residence. She was born on July 30, 1931 in Saginaw to the late Delos W. and Retta (Fisher) Putnam. Marlene moved to Caro in her teens in time to graduate from Caro High School. She was employed as an attendant nurse at Caro Regional Center until her retirement. Much of her free time involved caring for her son, Jeff, and prior to that caring for her mother, Retta. She enjoyed watching television and playing card games on the computer. Marlene was raised in the Protestant faith. She is survived by two sons, Timothy (Sue) Knight of Cary, North Carolina and Greg (Melissa) Knight of Caro; four grandchildren, Greg (Kristin) Knight of Van Neys, California, April (Marek) Odilinski of Durham, North Carolina, Becky Knight of Cary, North Carolina, Garrick Knight of Cary, North Carolina; two great-grandchildren, Victorya and Mckenzie Knight; her sister, Patricia (Basil) Simpson of Kingston, and her brother, William (Rose) Putnam of Caro; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Delos W. Putnam and Retta Putnam Richardson, she was preceded in death by a son Jeffery S. Knight on July 11, 2004. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Burial will be at East Dayton Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Tuscola County Homeless Coalition.
