Mary Elizabeth Robinson, age 85, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, February 23, 2006 at Caro Community Hospital. She was born November 28, 1920 in Bay City, the daughter of the late Glen & Alice Drucilla (Edgar) Gilkey. She was united in marriage to Dean Robinson on January 9, 1943 at the Caro United Methodist Church and celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary earlier this year. Mary and Dean owned and operated Robinsons Restaurant in Caro from 1958 until 1965. She was then employed at the Caro Regional Center for fifteen years as a seamstress, retiring in 1981. Mary was a member of the Watrousville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed a full life with a keen sense of humor, cooking, sewing, ceramics, fishing, traveling, writing poetry and being with her family. Mary is survived by her husband, Dean; two daughters, one son and their spouses, Beverly & Vern Emberts of St. Johns, Brenda Perkins of Caro and Wayne & Kelli Robinson of Caro; one daughter-in-law, Deborah Robinson of Deckerville and her fiance Dave; seven grandchildren, Lynda Robinson of Caro, Mike (Rachel) Robinson of Edmond, OK, Brian Robinson & fiance Stephanie of Caro, Brooke (Jim) Mayer of Perrinton, MI, Chad (Rachel) Perkins of Sparta, MI, Justin Robinson and Corey Robinson both of Caro; five great-grandchildren, Andrea, Douglas, Billy, Scott and Christopher; her loving pet, Cricket and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mary was preceded in death by one son, Newton R. Robinson in 2003; one grandson, Wil Emberts in 2003; a son-in-law, Douglas Perkins in 1996; her step-father, Charles Warren; her brother, Charles Gilkey and sister, Jane Vandecar.
