Phillip M. Millerov, Sr., age 54, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Phil was born June 29, 1958 in Caro, the son of the late Steve A. & Gloria (Nesbit) Millerov, and was a lifelong area resident. He was united in marriage with his high school sweetheart, Barbara L. Cross on September 2, 1978 in Reno, Nevada. Phil was employed for fourteen years with the Tuscola County Community Mental Health in human services and transportation, and was a police officer with the Village of Caro since 1988, a position he held until his death. He was also a member of the Kingston and Mayville Police Departments and served as Chief of Police for Watertown Township for many years. He was most recently employed with Wolverine Human Services in Vassar. Phil was born and raised in the Catholic faith, and devoted his life to spending time with and caring for his family. He was a member of the Greater Thumb Area Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 148, the Caro Moose Family Center, and coached several sports, including Caro Baseball Federation Little League, Caro AYSO Soccer, Caro Youth and High School Football. He was active as a Growler parent, coach and avid supporter of the Caro Wrestling Program. He was also a member of the Caro Mens golf league and enjoyed the sport so much he would often join his daughter at golf practice. He also belonged to the Outdoor Adventure Camping Community and cherished the time he could spend there with his family and friends. Phil is survived by three sons and one daughter, Phillip “Sonnie” Millerov, Jr. and his wife, Sara and their twin sons, Liam Phillip and Cole David Millerov of Mt. Pleasant, Kristin Millerov betrothed to Sean Duncan and son, Brody of Lansing, Tyler Millerov of Caro, Timothy Millerov of Caro; many brothers and sisters including special siblings, Steve Millerov, Jr., Stella Sherman and the late Timothy J. Millerov; brothers-in-law, William and Dr. Kathryn Sandlin of Caro, Daniel and Eileen Sandlin of Macomb; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Phil was preceded in death by one daughter, Trina Joy Millerov; and brother-in-law, Adelbert James Cross. In keeping with Phils wishes, cremation has taken place. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2012 at the Colwood United Brethren Church in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Caro. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Millerov Family College Fund.
