Robert Dickson, age 88, of Akron, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Medallion Village in Sebewaing. He was born on February 15, 1919 on the family farm in Akron and resided there all of his life. On June 29, 1940 he married the former Bernice Elaine Black. She preceded him in death on April 19, 2006. Robert was a self-employed farmer throughout his life; working short seasonal stints off the farm. He was an avid out-of-doors enthusiast and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He was a member of the Gateway Sportsmans Club. He is survived by two daughters, Janet Shephard of Akron and Gloria Denby of Carrollton; five grandchildren, Clifford (Linda) Shephard of Burt, Nick (Kiersten) Shephard of Midland, Meachelle (Hans) Funk of Reese, Melissa (Mike) Cruce of Shields and Marlena Denby of Saginaw; twelve great-grandchildren; his twin siblings, Luzerine Dickson of Decker and Leola Engelhardt of Sebewaing; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his loving wife of 65 years, he was preceded in death by the remainder of his siblings. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Pat Robbins officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Demorest Cemetery, Akron. Memorials may be made to the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Michigan.
