Warner Earl Lane, age 81, of Caro passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at Tendercare in Cass City. He was born on January 2, 1928 in Huron County to the late Ray and Myrtle (Smith) Lane. Warner was a graduate of Harbor Beach High School, and on September 20, 1952 he married the former Shirley Anne Thorndike in Portland, Maine. She preceded him in death on February 16, 2004. Warner worked in radio radar maintenance while serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He had been employed as an L.P.N and then in the Maintenance Department at the Caro Regional Center until his retirement. Warner was a member of the Theron W. Atwood American Legion Post # 7, a life member of Caro Mt. Moriah Lodge #226 F&AM, and the Caro Moose Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. Warner is survived by two children, Nancy (Rodney) Wilson of Millington and James (JoAnne) Lane of Caro; five grandchildren, Kathy Thibeault of Bay City, Jodi Wilson of Bay City, Nathan (Alyssa) Lane of Davison, Kati Lane of Bay City and Damon Lane of Caro; four great-grand-children; Ashley, Stephen, Haylee and Hayden; two sisters, Betty Binder of Bad Axe and Arlene (Don) Mc Connell of Cass City; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Loren Lane on November 15, 2008; and the remainder of his siblings, Rilla Teel, Eldora “Dottie” Austin, Eldon Lane and Duard (Dewy) Lane. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Indianfields Township Cemetery with military honors afforded by Theron W. Atwood American Legion Post #7 and the U.S. Air Force. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. There will be a Masonic memorial service at the funeral home on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Masonic Foundation or the charity of the donors choice.
