Abbas Rastikhah

Abbas Rastikhah of Caro, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at McLaren – Lapeer Region. Abbas was born January 2, 1950 in Tehran, Iran, the son of Akbar Rastikhah and Gilan Bolbolabadi. Abbas moved from Iran to Washington, D.C. when he was 18. He was united in marriage with Saralee McAlpine on April 1, 1972 in Miami, raising his family there prior to moving to Michigan to spend more time with family.

He loved all sports, with football being his favorite. He enjoyed cooking, giving advice on many diverse subject matters, telling stories of life in Iran, but mostly loved the opportunities available to him in the United States. Above all else, he loved his family.

Abbas is survived by his three children, Atesa Gast and husband, Terry, of Caro, Ameneh Koepf of Caro, Ariyan Rastikhah of Caro; eight grandchildren, Garrett, Owen, Alex and Nickalis Gast, Cordelia, Adrian, Giada and Seraphina Koepf; three sisters, Aghdass (Mohammad) Rastikhah Azam (Massoud) Rastikhah, and Elaheh (Bahman) Rastikhah; one brother, Ghasem (Amireh) Rastikhah and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Abbas was preceded in death by his wife, Saralee, on April 28, 2020; one sister, Fatemeh Rastikhah; one brother, Asghar Rastikhah; and two nephews, Pouria Jalalifar and Majid Zakeri.

Private services will be held at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Burial will be at Indianfields Township Cemetery.
