Adam Singer

Adam Singer of Caro, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at his home, surrounded by the love of his family. Adam was born March 30, 1932 in Sebewaing, the son of the late Adam Francis & Clara (Freihaut) Singer. He was a 1950 graduate of Unionville High School. While in high school, Adam joined the Navy Reserves, and was called to active duty in 1956. He travelled the world for the next two years on the Heavy Cruiser USS Bremerton. Adam was united in marriage with the former Sandra Kay Beller on June 27, 1953 in the first wedding ceremony held at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairgrove, and she survives. He was employed for over thirty years at the Caro Regional Center where he worked as an attendant, canteen supervisor, water plant operator and finished his career in maintenance, retiring in 1989. He was a very active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro where he served as an usher, elder, chairman of the congregation, member of the building committee, and a bible class teacher. He was happiest when spending time with his grandchildren, and was deeply devoted to his wife and children. His spare time was often spent golfing, woodworking and driving in his beloved 1989 Lincoln Continental. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sandra Singer of Caro; three sons and their spouses, Kurt Singer & Matt Schnitgen of Chicago, Kris & Michele Singer of Caro, Kent & Connie Singer of Vassar; five grandchildren, Matthew, Adam, Timothy, Aaron, and Alyssa; sisters-and brothers-in-law, Anne Burkel of Alger, Carol Skidmore of Caro, Catherine & Gene Mueller of AuGres, Lee & Laura Beller of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Wendy & Dennis LaFond of Saginaw, Ann & Don Greenley of Saginaw; a special niece, Stacy Truax of Livonia as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, Adam was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers-in-law, Gerry & Lee Truax, Joan & Earl Hammond, Kenneth Skidmore, Glen Burkel; father- and mother-in-law, Henry & Elgene Beller. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 26, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro with Rev. Cameron Steele officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Fairgrove. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
