Alan R. Kinney

Alan Russell Kinney, age 67, of Sebewaing, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at Bay Medical Regional Hospital. He was in the presence of his adoring family.

Alan was diagnosed with Renal Failure in late August of 2013. Facing his foe with grace, courage and dignity; he spent the last 6 years battling this implacable disease. He for sook the traditional treatment and sought treatment in his own way and his own terms. He took classes and taught himself home treatment. He achieved temporary relief, but complications of the disease soon continued their inexorable march.

Alan was born in Flint, Michigan on March 26, 1952. He was the son of Russell Kinney and Jessie (Robinson) Kinney of Burton and preceded him in death. He attended Atherton High School (Class of 1972) and continued his education and received an Associate's Degree in Automotive Repair at Mott Community College of Flint. Alan retired from Flint Truck and Bus after 32 years of service. He married Sandra Jean (Lee) on September 23, 1972, celebrating 46 years.

Alan loved spending time hunting, fishing, camping, and playing local music jams at multiple locations throughout his travels. He loved to spend time with family and friends.

Alan is survived by his wife, Sandra Kinney; son, David (Jessica) Kinney; daughter, Amy (Vijy) Koshy; grandchildren: Chelsie (Dylan) Alm, Chase Kinney, Hunter Kinney, Payton Kinney; great granddaughter, Adiline Alm; and sister, Carol Campbell.

Visitation is Sunday, August 11, 2019, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2-8pm.

The funeral service will be Monday, August 12, 2019, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10am until the time of service at 11am. Pastor Mike Goforth from Calvary Baptist Church in Caseville will be officiating.

The burial will be at New Bay Port Cemetery following the service.

Memorial donations may be given to American Diabetes Association or Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance.
