Alan R. Luther

Alan R. Luther of Caro, age 59, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Covenant Health Care - Cooper in Saginaw, following a courageous battle with cancer. Al was born September 9, 1956 in Clare, the son of the late Robert & Jacqueline (Rose) Luther. He was united in marriage with the former Shelly McDurmon on August 9, 1980 in Caro, and she survives him. Al's working career was spent driving, first as a charter bus driver for twenty years, then as an over-the-road truck driver for the next ten years, most recently for GSA. He was an active member of the Caro Moose Lodge for thirty-eight years and his free time was almost always spent outdoors and with family. He adored his two granddaughters, and enjoyed golfing, hunting, camping, bowling, cooking and was known for his camping trip barbeques. In addition to his wife, Shelly Luther, Al is survived by two children, Sarah Reinelt and her husband, Robert, of Caro, Robert Luther of Caro; two granddaughters, Grace and Taylor; five siblings and their spouses, Lynn & Joan Luther of Brownstown, Audrey & Mike Behrens of Caro, Jackie & Brian Hall of Fairgrove, Dave & Tina Luther of Caro, Brenda & Scott Severn of Caro; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by one sister and brother, Lisa Luther and Milton Luther. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Chris Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Almer Township Cemetery in Caro.
