Albert T. Eden

Albert T. Eden, 94, passed away unexpectedly Monday, February 29th, 2016 at Saginaw Covenant Medical Center.

He was born at home in Winsor Township on February 17th, 1922, and was the son of William and Martha (Westphal) Eden. He attended Snell Country School.

During WWII he served as a 1st Lieutenant with the U.S. Army in Germany, where he was wounded in action. Albert was a decorated soldier with the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 stars, World War II Victory Medal, and Combat Infantry Badge. Albert was a very proud veteran and loved to talk about WWII.

On November 29th, 1947 he was united in marriage to Ruth L. Kundinger at St. John Lutheran Church, Kilmanagh, and celebrated 66 years together before her passing on February 15, 2014.

Albert was a dairy farmer his entire life except when he was in active military duty and retirement. His wife Ruth supported and worked alongside him most of those years.

Albert enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, playing cards, and family and friends. Albert also enjoyed functions at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Berne, where he was a member since 1951.

He is survived by his children, Mike (Connie) Eden of Bay Port, Frederick (Lesa) Eden of Pigeon, Duane (Debra) Eden of Sebewaing, Dianne (Timothy) Diebel of Sebewaing, and JoAnn (Bill) Lakie of Sebewaing; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Alberta Shelton of Lutherville, Maryland; brother, Robert Eden of Livonia; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Ruth, he was preceded in death by his parents, William and Martha Eden, grandson Steven Depcinski, and sibling Ann Elizabeth Patterson.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 4th, 2016 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Berne, with Rev. James A. Gorsegner, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church or Scheurer Hospital.

Thursday, March 3rd 2 - 8 p.m.
AND AT ST. JOHN'S EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH:
Friday, March 4th 10 a.m. until service time
