Aleatha R. Racheter, 98, of Solon, Iowa, formerly of Pigeon, died Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Solon Retirement Village in Solon, Iowa.
Aleatha was born July 6, 1919 in Pigeon to the late Richard and Lillian (Niebel) Baur. On November 8, 1941 she was united in marriage to Paul A. Racheter at the First United Methodist Church in Pigeon; he preceded her in death on September 15, 1990. She was employed at the U.S. Post Office in Pigeon as a postal clerk. In 1992 she moved to Iowa to be closer to family. She enjoyed traveling, reading and was an artist; painting and drawing in different mediums.
She is survived by her children Deann Jackson-Flues of Pensacola, Florida and Don (Ellen) Racheter of West Lafayette, Indiana; grandchildren Annalese (Aaron Alford) Racheter, Alena (Nicholas) Furlong, Chip (Stephanie) Racheter, Lori Seese, and Shawn Jackson; great-grandchildren Kyle, Murphy, Emmelaine, Nile and Van. She was preceded in death by her sister Leona (Baur) Buchholz.
Graveside services will be 10:00am Saturday, May 12 th at Grand Lawn Cemetery, Pigeon, with Rev. Cindy Gibbs officiating. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
