Alej Szegidewicz

Alej Szegidewicz, age 91, of Sand Point, died Friday, May 29, 2009 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon.

Alej was born June 4, 1917 in Poland to late Maciej and Cholastyka (Poltorzyka) Szegidewicz. He served in the Polish Army during World War II. On March 28, 1948 he married Stanislawa “Stella” Lewandowska in Lancaster, England. Alej was devastated in 2004 when she preceded him in death.

They immigrated to the United States in May 1951, settling in the Detroit Area. Alej worked at Fisher Body Company from 1952 to 1979. In 1979 he retired to Sand Point. He was a member of the Caseville Eagles #3690 where he enjoyed playing Euchre.

Surviving are two sisters in Poland, Alina Edelwajn and Ewa Stucka.

A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 16th at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville with visitation 1 hour prior to the service, burial will be in Poland.
