Alex Bulatow age 102, of Bay Port passed away Friday morning, March 28, at Medallion Village, Sebewaing where he had resided for the past 2 1/2 years.
He was born August 1, 1911 in Smarodino, Russia, son of the late Steve and Helena (Chernavina) Bulatow and immigrated to Huron County with his family at age one.
Alex had various occupations over his lifetime which included farmer, truck driver and factory worker. He was an avid reader his entire life and also an avid Detroit Tiger fan. He loved sharing stories about his past adventures in his life and loved making people laugh. Alex will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are two sons, Donald Bulatow and Joseph Bulatow; two nieces, Carol (Harlan) Conley of Saginaw and Judy (Randy) Schlabach of Saginaw; two great nephews, Jason Hoffman of Saginaw and Josh Handell of Connecticut; two great nieces, Meredith Harris of North Carolina and Melissa Piorkowski of Georgia, six great great nephews, Andrew Hoffman, Fletcher Harris, Weston Harris, Ripley Harris, Lincoln Harris, and James Piorkowski and one great great niece, Lucy Keast, with whom he shared a special bond. Alex is also survived by his faithful friend, Jeff Diachenko of Bay Port.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, John Bulatow; two sisters, Elizabeth Bulatow and Ann Sturm and a step-daughter, Mary Mercier.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Medallion Village for the love and care shown to Alex. Also, a heartfelt thanks to pastor William O’nan of Elkton for his many visits and prayers, and the staff of Heartland Hospice.
Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 PM Monday, March 31, at Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton with burial in Grandlawn Cemetery, Pigeon. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Community Wesleyan Church.
