Alfred M. Petiprin

Alfred M. Petiprin of Caro, age 88, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021 at McLaren Bay Special Care in Bay City. Alfred was born September 9, 1932 in Unionville, the son of the late H. Martin & Mary E. (Cook) Petiprin. He graduated from Caro High School where he was active with Future Farmers of America and was a founding member of Farm Bureau's Young Farmers program. He was united in marriage with the former Kay Conway on May 3, 1958, and the couple cherished over fifty-nine years of marriage before her death on June 16, 2017. Alfred was a lifelong farmer and had a deep affinity for nature where he could often be found feeding his birds, tending to animals, or gardening. He was also a talented woodworker and always reserved time in the winter to bake breads and pies, or cook his beloved bean soup. Left to cherish Alfred's memory are eight children and their spouses, Mark & Lynne Petiprin, Anne & Matt Foley, Rita & Jim Hepfer, Joan McCloy, all of Caro, Susan & Gene Ellison of Reese, Sarah Szagesh of Millington, Leah & Doug Dinsmore of Vassar, Lena Keipinger (John) of Paragould, Arkansas; seventeen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one brother and his wife, Paul & Joyce Petiprin of Bay City; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Alfred was preceded in death by two sons, John in 2014, and a stillborn son, Thomas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at the Ellington Church of the Nazarene in Caro with Rev. David Boulton officiating. Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Salvation Army.
