Alfred H. Renius

January 12, 1922 — February 1, 2007

Alfred H. “Al” Renius, age 85, of Caseville, formerly of Rochester, died suddenly February 1, 2007 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon of a pulmonary embolism.

Al was born January 12, 1922 in Altdamm, Germany to the late Hans and Grete (Schwarz) Renius. The family moved from Germany to Detroit in 1926, where Al grew up and graduated from Denby High School. On October 20, 1945 he married Violet Norma Herz of Detroit at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Detroit.

The family lived in Detroit then later moved to Rochester. Al worked as a design engineer in the automotive field. In 1989 he retired to Caseville. He was a charter member of the Rochester Elks Lodge, and a former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Rochester. He enjoyed helping his wife with household chores and spending time with his family and friends.

Al is survived by his wife Violet; sons Mark (Sandra) of Temperance, Carl of Rochester and Craig (Gail) of Grant’s Pass, Oregon and daughter Nancy (Dale) Ahern of Rochester Hills; grandchildren Bryan, Christopher, Elizabeth, Amanda, Elaina, Curtis, Ryan, Dylan and Emma Rose; and great-grandchildren Brendan, Alexander, Emma Nicole, Derek and Meghan.

He was preceded in death by his sister Anneliese Szumanski.

A memorial service will be at 2:00PM Saturday, February 10th at the Pixley Funeral Home in Rochester.
