Alice Mae Jones

Alice Mae Jones of Caro, age 86, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022 at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital with her loving family by her side. Alice was born March 23, 1936 in Caro at the family home, to the late Otto and Opal (Butcher) Vollmar. She grew up on the family farm with her eight siblings, graduated from Caro High School, class of 1953, and went on to attend airline school. Before leaving for airline school, Alice met the love of her life, Fred Jones, at the local roller rink. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on June 18, 1954 with Fred's dad, Norman Jones, officiating. Shortly after, Fred was drafted in the Army and stationed in Germany with Alice. Upon returning from Germany, Alice and Fred moved back to Caro to raise their three sons. Alice worked in sales for Gambles, was the branch manager at People's State Bank, and retired from the State of Michigan as a bookkeeper, working at the DSS in Bad Axe for nearly twenty years. Alice enjoyed doing crosswords and word searches, and was an avid reader, she could read a book every single day. She was very well read and knowledgeable, especially about Israel and God's future plan for them as a nation. Alice loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and was always a woman of faith. Her favorite bible verse is, Acts 16:31, "So they said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household." Alice and Fred were members of the Assembly of God church and sang with the Christian Ministries International for over 16 years. They traveled all over the world and even sang in Bethlehem. Alice was always known for her immaculate yard and her chocolate chip cookie recipe could not be matched. Her loving, kind, and caring ways will be cherished and missed for years to come. Alice leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 68 years, Fred Jones; their sons, Freddie (Mary) Jones and Tim Jones; grandchildren, Chris (Anna) Jones, Jodi Jones, and Zach Jones; siblings, Royal (June) Vollmar, Virginia (Bob) Becker, Mary Jane (Norm) West, and David (Jan) Vollmar; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Vollmar and Helen Vollmar; many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by son, Jeffrey Scott Jones; siblings, Fritz, Dwain, Elene, and Billy. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro. Alice's family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday, July 7, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her 11:00 a.m. service at the funeral home. Reverend Arnold Burger will officiate with burial following at Indianfields Township Cemetery.
