Alicelane Baas

Alicelane Baas of Caro, age 92, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Satchell's Christian Retirement Home in Caro. Alicelane was born November 15, 1926 in Adrian, the daughter of the late Joel and Lillie (Greene) Boersema. She was united in marriage with James Baas on February 26, 1949 at the Berkley Community Church parsonage in Berkley by Rev. Orrin VanLoon. Alicelane started her working career with the Royal Oak Daily Tribune and then was employed for twenty-six years with the City of Troy school system. While in Caro, she volunteered at Caro Community Hospital and served as president of the Women's Auxiliary. Alicelane loved counted cross stitch, reading, and owls. She was a quiet lady not wanting or looking to cause any fuss. Alicelane is survived by her loving husband of sixty-nine years, James Baas; two children, Mary Alice & Pete Siebigteroth of Louisburg, North Carolina, and John Bruce Baas of Washington, Michigan; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Marianna O'Key; and two brothers, Joel J. Boersema and Donald Gleason. In keeping with Alicelane's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will be held at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Inurnment will be at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery in Troy at a later date.
