Allen J. Scott

Allen J. “Papa” Scott of Garrett, Indiana, formerly of Caro, age 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 4, 2024. Allen was born August 11, 1940 in Fairgrove, Michigan, to the late Elmo and Bertha Scott. On August 30, 1958, Allen married the former Goldie Orton. He spent four years in the United States Air Force, and the couple spent most of their married life in Caro, Michigan, where he was employed at Midwest Rotary Maniforms for forty years. An avid country and western music lover, Allen’s favorite artist was Stonewall Jackson. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Allen is survived by his four children, Nanette (Gary) Lindahl, Robert (Martha) Scott, Shelly (Jesse) Bachman, and Steven Scott; six grandchildren, Mark (Misty) Schultz, Jenny Wininger, Virginia Scott, Robert Scott, Shaina (Corey) Saylor, and Alyssa White; fourteen great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Shirley) Scott; sister, Joyce McKenney; and special cousin, Bonnie Elmy. In addition to his parents, Allen was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-four years, Goldie; granddaughter, Dee Scott; and brothers, Bert Scott and William Scott.

No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. Allen’s family will notify loved ones in the future when a service is scheduled. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
