Alma Darbee

Alma L. Darbee, age 91, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2012 at Fisher Senior Care and Rehab in Mayville. She was born November 1, 1921 in Deford, the daughter of the late Harvey and Vina (Spencer) Palmateer. Alma was a 1938 graduate of Cass City High School, and moved to Caro in 1946. The former Alma Palmateer was united in marriage with Willard Darbee on June 3, 1950 at her parents home in Caro. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2008. Following high school, Alma attended beauty school and became a licensed beautician. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Caro, served on the school board of the Humes School and was a 4-H leader. Alma was employed at the Tuscola County Friend of the Court until her retirement. She was a homemaker and enjoyed her family. Alma is survived by two daughters, Karen Barrons and her husband, Terry, and Kay Weis, all of Caro; two grandchildren, Jeff & Julia Barrons of Caro and Christina & Brian Feldman of Saginaw; five great-grandchildren, Katelynn, Josiah and Carissa Barrons of Caro, Caleb and Andrew Feldman of Saginaw; three siblings, Marion Fredrick of Texas, Carl & Joyce Palmateer of Cass City, Leota Anthes of Cass City; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, an infant sister and Mabel Francis; and a son-in-law, Gene Weis. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Caro First Baptist Church with Rev. Ronald Wigand officiating. Burial will follow at the Almer Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church of Caro Building Fund or Fisher Senior Care and Rehab Therapy Department in Mayville.
