Alta Pittman

Alta “Bugs” Gillespie Pittman, age 79, died on August 26, 2010 in Caro, Michigan. She was born on May 29, 1931 in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, daughter of the late Jess and Tennie Gillespie. Alta had been married to the late Lawrence Pittman. She will be especially remembered for her love of the outdoors, her church, Southern cuisine, and children. Alta is survived by five children, Charles (Mary) Gillespie, Melvin Pittman, Ethel Pittman, Lawrence (Patricia) Pittman, and Michael Pittman; her grandchildren, Dion, Amanda, Travis, Stacy, Stephanie, Tracy, and Daisy; and several great-grandchildren. Alta will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in North Carolina. Memorials may be made in Altas honor to Trinity Baptist Church (828-254-2187)
