Alvin D. Lockwood

Alvin D. Lockwood of Caro, age 89, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Covenant Health Care - Cooper in Saginaw. Alvin was born August 26, 1931 in Ellington Township, the son of the late Wesley and Lotela (Hudson) Lockwood. He was a lifelong area resident and farmer, and cherished time spent working the family land with his sons. He was united in marriage with the former Betty Slaughter on June 28, 1952 in Caro. While they were dating, Alvin and Betty never missed the opportunity to be together at the roller rink. Betty preceded him in death on March 25, 2020. Alvin was a member of the Colwood Church in Caro and was a devout Christian and student of the Bible. His children fondly remember him reading the Bible and learning scripture from him on Sundays. Farming was his passion and he will be remembered as kind and loving, always patient and calm. Never known to become flustered or have a heated conversation with anyone, he became the family peacekeeper. Alvin was also an animal lover, especially of dogs. He was a great storyteller, and more recently enjoyed fishing up north and hunting. Alvin is survived by five children and their spouses, Duane & Marilyn Lockwood of Caro, Diane Fedack of Reese, Gregory & Beth Lockwood of Caro, Kevin & Edwina Lockwood of Caro, Brian & Theresa Lockwood of Caro; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at the Colwood Church in Caro with Pastor Randy Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Almer Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to United Hospice of Marlette or the Colwood United Brethren Church in Caro.
