Alvin F. Louks

Alvin F. Louks of Mayville, age 66, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014 at his home. He was born November 6, 1947 in Caro, the son of the late Franklin and Laurel (Weiler) Louks. Alvin and the former Sherry Lynn Betz were united in marriage on May 15, 1971 in Millington, and she survives him. He was a 1965 Mayville High School graduate and obtained his BS in Engineering from Saginaw Valley State University in 1990. Alvin was employed at Means in Vassar until his retirement. He attended the Caro Assembly of God Church, was a member of the 4H Horse Club, coached Caro Little League for many years, and was an active member of the Willow Springs Golf League. He enjoyed hunting, camping with his grandchildren, playing his guitar and golf. Alvin is survived by his wife, Sherry Louks of Mayville; two daughters and two sons, John (Becky) Weiler of Kalkaska, Tracy Lynn Dean of Mayville, Todd Aron Louks of Mayville, Christa Louks of Mayville; his grandchildren, Dennis Dean (DD), Lily (Lily pad), Aron James (AJ), all of Mayville, as well as Colt Weiler of Kalkaska; his siblings, Raymond (Marilyn) Louks of Millington, Ralph (Nancy) Louks of Flushing, Don (Cheryl) Louks of Millington, Marilyn (Stan) Bickel of Mayville, Marie (Don) LaCount of South Branch, Norma (Al) Turek of Mayville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Alvin was preceded in death by two sons, Christopher Scott and A.J. Louks; three grandchildren, Shawndee, Cheyenne and Austin; brother-in-law, Roy Miller; two sisters-in-law, Sue Acord and Ferol Louks; his in-laws, Bob and Marjorie Betz. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Caro Assembly of God Church with Rev. David Dietzel officiating. Burial will follow at North Grove Cemetery in Mayville. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Caro Little League.
