Alyce M. Haase of Caro, age 94, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 4, 2013, following a brief illness. She was born March 8, 1919 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Jozef & Mary (Dudek) Dudek. Alyce was united in marriage with Lt. Fredrick Haase, Jr. in Detroit, January 10, 1942. After seventy-one years of marriage, Col. Fredrick Hasse Jr. preceded her in death on April 18, 2013. During their career in the military, Alyce served in a variety of charity work with the army community services at Walter Reed Hospital, the White House and many other groups and organizations in and about Washington, D.C. During her free time, Alyce enjoyed gardening, stamp and coin collecting, collecting Republican elephants and Precious Moments. Alyce is a member of the Caro Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Caro V.F.W., Caro American Legion and the Caro Knights of Columbus Auxiliaries and a member of the Polish American Club. Alyce and Fred Haase will always be remembered for their generous community donations to the Caro Community Hospital, the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility and the Republican Party. Alyce is survived by three children and their spouses, Fredrick James & Norma Haase of Lansing, Patricia Malamut of Lisle, Illinois, Robert Haase and his fianc, Lori Curtis of Caro; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one sister, Lillian Musiet and her husband, Bob of Carrollton and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Alyce was preceded in death by three brothers, Jozef, Frank and Edward Dudek, five sisters, Estelle, Mary, Florence, Joann and Emily. Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk officiating. Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Caro. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. A Rosary Service will be recited at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
