Amelia Nowakowski

Amelia “Millie” Nowakowski, age 82, passed away peacefully Monday, December 18, 2006 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. She was born on September 19, 1924 in Fostoria, the daughter of the late Henry and Christine (Zeier) Yens. She was united in marriage to William “Bill” Nowakowski on August 30, 1946 in Caro. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1992. Millie owned and operated the Rainbow Motel and Restaurant in Caro with her husband for 38 years, retiring in 2002. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Polish American Club in Caro, and thoroughly enjoyed traveling. Millie is survived by two sons, two daughters and their spouses, Thomas Sue Nowakowski of Caro, Leon Nowakowski of Caro, Judy John R. Farnum of Vassar, Linda Steve Perkins of Caro; four grandchildren, Thomas Nowakowski, Eric Molly Nowakowski, Heather Ben Guile and Rene Richard Ward; six great-grandchildren, Randy, Tyler, Jenna, Jacob, Bradley and Grace; one brother, Carl Yens of Silverwood, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
