Amelia Sikoski

March 10, 1925 — June 7, 2011

Amelia Sikoski, age 86, begun her new life with the Lord, Tuesday morning, June 7, 2011, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born March 10, 1925 in Detroit to the late Basil and Sophia (Zimmer) Tessak. She graduated from Detroit Northeastern High School in 1942. After high school graduation she attended Wayne State University and then went onto work for Packard as a metallurgist.

On June 8, 1946, she was united in marriage to Casimer Z. Sikoski at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Detroit. In 1947, they moved to the farm in Oliver Township to raise their family. Cass preceded her in death October 9, 2009.

Amelia enjoyed working in her garden and flowers, which she was always willing to share with everyone. She was a master at pinochle, beaten by very few, liked to couchette, do crossword puzzles and read. She was a mother figure to anyone she came in contact with. She was also a faithful member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church and Alter Society.

Surviving are her six children, Marcella Budzynowski of Bad Axe, Daniel (Lori) Sikoski of Shelby Twp., Cass Sikoski Jr. of Pigeon, Cindy Sikoski of Elkton, Kathy (Roger) Koch of Bay Port and Diana (Bill) Bittner of Elkton; three grandchildren, Meagan (Josh) Fritz of Sebewaing, Clairice Sikoski of Shelby Twp., and Daniel (Antonia) Bittner of Troy; her sister, Carol Kernen of Walled Lake; brother-in-law Marion Sikoski of Bay Port and two sisters-in-law, Patsy (Otho) Holcomb of Ohio and Karen Sikoski of Shelby Twp.
Preceding her in death were a son-in-law Jerry “B” Budzynowski; brothers-in-law Richard Sikoski and Jim Kernen and a sister-in-law, Ada Sikoski. She was a mother figure to Jay Letkowski and Johnny Wolin, whom also preceded her in death.

A funeral mass will be celebrated 1:00 PM Friday, June at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon, with interment by her husband in Riverside Cemetery.

A parish scripture service will be at 7:00 PM Thursday evening for Amelia. Visitation is from 2 to 9 pm Thursday at Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton and at the church after 10 AM Friday.

“Amelia was a woman of character, born before her time. She was simplicity in a nutshell – living her life never needing or wanting more than family and friends.”

Memorials may be made to the Oliver Township Fire Department.
