Ann Lenda

Ann Lenda of Caro, age 97, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, August 4, 2018. Ann was one of fourteen children and was born July 18, 1921 in Owendale, the daughter of the late Walter and Cecilia (Stopczynski) Lenda and in her younger years, she and her sister worked at the Gagetown Hotel. Ann went to the Detroit area and worked at the Packard Motor Company as part of the war effort. Upon her return to the thumb, Ann commenced working in the hospitality industry, owning Ann's Restaurant in Cass City, the Crestwood Lounge in Caro, and the Amber Lounge in Bad Axe. Following her retirement from those endeavors, she owned and operated the Caro Golf Shop with her brother, Bernie. Ann was a landlady and owned several apartment rentals in the area. Work was her hobby as was her social and church life. She was a past member of St. Agatha Parrish in Gagetown, and then for many years St. Christopher Parrish, Sacred Heart Church in Caro. Left to cherish her memory are two sisters, Welda Gilbert of Warren, and Irene Krug of Bad Axe; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 10, 2018 at St. Christopher Parish, 910 W. Frank St. in Caro with Rev. Fr. Blackwell officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Michigan Humane Society.
