Annabelle Knechtel age77, lifetime resident of Elkton passed away Sunday, November 23, 2003 at Port Huron Hospital.
She was born July 23, 1926, in Chandler Twp, daughter of the late Winchester and MaryAnn (Conlin) Curran.
On September 6, 1947, she was united in marriage to Alvin “John” Knechtel at the Chandler Presbyterian Church. Annabelle worked with her husband, at Knechtel’s Market until they sold and retired in 1987. He preceded her in death December 15, 1990.
Annabelle was a member of the United Methodist Church and sang in choir for many years, and also sang at many weddings. She was a member of the Elkton VFW Auxiliary and an avid golfer, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading and singing.
Surviving are her four children, Marcia (Clare) Scheurer, Port Huron, Nancy (Don) Anderson of Lowell, Tom (Mary) Knechtel of Kalamazoo, and Greg (Debra) Knechtel of Denver, CO: 12 grandchildren and her sister, Barbara Engle, Lapeer.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM, Wednesday November 26, at the Elkton United Methodist Church. Rev. Peter Crawford, pastor will officiate with burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM at Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton and at the church after 10 AM Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to Elkton United Methodist Church.
