Anthony Mangiapane

July 22, 1941 — June 4, 2023

Caseville

Anthony Mangiapane, 81, of Caseville Township, and formerly of Brown City, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023 at home under hospice care, after suffering from congestive heart failure.

Anthony was born July 22, 1941, in Detroit, to the late James and Florence (Dalessandro) Mangiapane. He graduated from Denby High in Detroit in 1960. He enlisted in the United States Navy on January 20, 1961, and was a machinist and underwater diver aboard the USS Yosemite (AD19), participating in the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was honorably discharged from the Navy Reserve January 19, 1967.

He built his dream workshop when he retired from General Motors after 30 years. He found joy in working with his hands and was willing to help others with his knowledge. He tore apart used equipment and would put it back together, making it run smoother than a new machine. He would look at something and say that he could make it better. His creativity and vision was unlimited, allowing him to make his own industrial log splitter with hoist, tractor implement attachments for various jobs, cement mixer, and clam openers for his siblings. He had books of drawings with calculations of inventions he wanted to make. More ideas than time allowed. He was a man with many talents whether it was wood, electrical or metal. Everyone said he had hands of gold and could fix or make anything.

Anthony is survived by his wife Marsha; son Greg (Sue) Mangiapane of Almont, daughter Angela (Hollis) Greenlaw of Colleyville, Texas, and son David Hernandez of Clarkston; grandchildren Claire, Abigail and Austin Greenlaw, and Avelynn and Ellery Hernandez; three brothers Russel (Gayle), Thomas (Patricia), and James; sister Michele (Dennis) Hylko; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial mass will be at 12:00 noon Friday, June 16th at St. Roch Catholic Church in Caseville.  Visitation will be one hour before the mass at the church.  Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tunnel 2 Towers. www.t2t.org
