Ardith Hughey of Caro, age 64, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2016 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Ardith was born July 25, 1951 in Bay City, the daughter of the late Arthur and Louise (Gokey) Phelps. She was a 1969 graduate of John Glenn High School, and completed her training as a Child Development Associate. On December 22, 1975, Ardith was united in marriage with Dale Hughey in Bay City, and he survives her. As an Army wife, she lived throughout the world, and finally settled in Caro. During her career, she worked as a Child Care Provider with a Child Development Associate Certification. Ardith loved children, baking, laughing, and loved life in general. She is survived by her husband, Dale; one daughter, Becky Hughey of Caro; three sisters, Marilou Schram of Bay City, Sherry (Vic) Beck of Harbor Springs, and Barb (Darrell) Hughey of Alanson; three brothers-in-law, Rick Presser, Marvin Michael and Jack Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her biological family, Ardith is blessed with many "adopted" children, grandchildren, and an assortment of other "family." In addition to her parents, Ardith was preceded in death by three sisters, Linda Presser, Grace Michael and Kathy Huber-Johnson; and two brothers-in-law, Jim Schram and Loren Huber. In keeping with Ardith's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held sometime this summer at a local park.
