Arlen D. Asher, age 72, of Caseville, died Friday, May 13, 2011 at his home of natural causes.
Arlen was born September 8, 1938 in Meade Township to Alma (Gilbert) and the late Geroge Asher. He graduated from Berkley High School in 1956. He served four years in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University in 1965 and a MBA from Northern Indiana University in 1982.
He worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance before moving from Berkley to Caseville in 1984. He owned and operated Arlen’s Duck Inn in Pigeon. He was a member of the Caseville Eagles FOE #3690 and a former president of the Angell Elementary PTA in Berkley. An avid outdoors man, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating. He spent time doing crossword puzzles, reading and visiting with his friends.
He is survived by his son Dale (Renee) of Martinez, California; mother Alma Rubino of Livonia; brothers Tom (Jane) of Indiana, Jim (Joyce) of Novi, Don (Sherry) of Ohio, and George (Carol) of Houghton Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son Kirk in 2010 and ex-wife Judith Cole in 2007.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville with Rev. Karen Bouverette officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Caseville American Legion.
Visitation will be 2 to 8 pm Wednesday. There will be an Eagles Ritual at 5PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a local food pantry in Arlen's memory.
