Arnel M. Bennett, age 50, of Caseville died early Monday morning, September 3, at Covenant Cooper, Saginaw of complications after the removal of a brain mass.
She was born June 25, 1962, in Cheyenne, WY to Arnold and Nellie (Gage) Russell and came to Elkton as a baby. Arnel was a 1980 graduate of Laker High School. She furthered her education at the HISD cosmetology program in Bad Axe and became a beautician, operating a business in her home. She had also worked as a waitress, first at the Franklin Inn, Bad Axe and then at her mother’s restaurant, Country House in Caseville.
Arnel attended the Community Wesleyan Church, Elkton, as well as the River's Edge Church in Caseville. As she drew closer and closer to her Lord she was known to read her Bible until the pages were tattered, and filled her Bible with scraps of paper filled with notes from meaningful studies and sermons. She enjoyed reading, watching movies, playing games, doing puzzles, playing pool and bowling. Arnel was a good cook and baker, and loved to watch sunsets in Caseville.
Surviving are her daughter, Tinelle McKay; her mother, Nellie Parr of Elkton, father Arnold (De De) Russell of Lake Twp., three brothers, Wesley (Melinda) Russell, Chad (Maureen) Russell and Chris (April) Russell all of Goshen, IN and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, September 7, at the Community Wesleyan Church, Elkton, with Rev. William O’nan, pastor officiating.
Friends and family may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 8 PM Thursday and at the church after 10 AM Friday.
