Arnold Warner Russell

Arnold Warner Russell, 79, of Caseville, formerly of Elkton, died Sunday, October 29, 2017 at his home while under hospice care.

Arnie was born August 4, 1938 in Detroit to the late William and Helen (Smith) Russell. He graduated from Elkton High School in 1957 and then entered the US Air Force. He moved to Los Angeles, California and while there met and married Claren K. “Dede” Knowles on August 3, 1968. They returned to Elkton in 1976.

He was the former owner of several businesses in Elkton: Ty’s Lounge, Suds Yer Duds Laundromat, and Arnie’s Gas Station and Repair. He also delivered fuel oil for Haley Oil and Neurath Oil. He was a member of the Elkton Lions, Elkton United Methodist Church and former volunteer fireman on the Oliver Township Fire Department for 10 years.

Arnie is survived by his wife Dede; sons Wesley (Melinda), Chad (Maureen) and Christopher (April), all of Goshen, Indiana; grandchildren Tinelle McKay, Emma, Kalvin, Quinn, Seth, Kathryn and Josiah Russell; twin brother Ronald (Marilyn) of Houghton Lake, sister Barbara (Tom ) Wills of Ubly, sister Cheryl (Dale) Atkinson of Elkton and brother Frank (Deborah) of Elkton. He was preceded in death by his daughter Arnel.

Funeral services will be at 11:00am Thursday, November 2nd at the Elkton United Methodist Church with Rev. Won D. Kim officiating, followed by military honors from the Elkton VFW. Urn interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-8 Wednesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Elkton and one hour prior to the service Thursday in church.
