Arthur A. Priebe, 93 of Pigeon, passed away Friday, October 23, 2015 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon.
Arthur was born in Sebewaing on June 19, 1922, and was the son of August and Ida (Martin) Priebe. He graduated from Sebewaing High School and served with the U.S. Army during WWII. On August 17, 1946 he was united in marriage with Mildred A. Hoffman at New Salem Lutheran Church, Sebewaing. They recently celebrated 69 years of marriage.
Art worked as a railroad agent with C&O Railroad, retiring after 40 years. He was a faithful public servant. He had served as Pigeon Constable, and had been a member of the Village Council as well as a member of the Zoning and Planning Commission. Art had also worked as a Scheurer Hospital EMT, and was active with the Huron County Nature Center. He was a member of American Legion Post 543 in Caseville and past Service Officer.
Arthur was an active, faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Berne, where he had been an usher and Elder. In his earlier years at New Salem Lutheran Church, he sang in the church choir.
Art dearly loved his family and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred A. Priebe of Pigeon; sons, Tom (Lorraine) Priebe of Reese, Jerry (Verna) Priebe of Marlette, and Robert (Kathy) Priebe of Tell City, Indiana; grandchildren: Melissa (Ryan) Putman, Shannon (Brent) Vander Haar, Kristin (Jeremy) Krimm, Wendy (fiancé Gabe) Priebe, Robert Priebe, and Chelsea Priebe; great-grandchildren: Logan, Aubrey, Dominic, Asher, Madeline, and Abigail; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Alma Menzel, and a brother, Karl Priebe.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 26, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Berne, with Rev. James A. Gorsegner, pastor, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or the Huron County Nature Center.
