Barbara Jean Diehl-Carpenter

Barbara Jean Diehl-Carpenter of Caro, age 86, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at United Hospice Service of Marlette. Barb was born April 3, 1938 in Marlette, the daughter of the late Charles and Nellie (Forbes) Boyne. She married Gerald Diehl, Sr. in 1958, their marriage was blessed with five children and over thirty-three years of memories. Gerald preceded Barb in death on August 21, 1991. She found love again and married Richard Carpenter on September 13, 2003, a few short years later he sadly passed away on November 2, 2007. Barb was an excellent homemaker and loved to cook and bake for her family. You could always look forward to Sunday meals at her house and spending the holidays surrounded by family and good food. Barb enjoyed crocheting, coloring, the sounds of wind chimes, and her flower beds. She loved taking trips to the casino and keeping her sons busy driving her around to the different bingo games each night. Barb had a fiery, strong-willed personality, was caring, and she always put others before herself – unless you were a telemarketer, then she’d tell you right off. Above all else, she loved her family immensely, being with her children and grandchildren brought her pure joy.

Barb leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Gerald Diehl, Jr. of Caro and William and his wife, Reva Diehl of Caro; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; brother, Warren & Lillian Boyne of Sandusky; sisters, Joyce & Don Moore of Fairgrove, Mary Long of Caro, and Janice & Walter Johnson of Missouri; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husbands, Barb was preceded in death by her daughters, Charlene Smutek, Sandra Diehl, and Debera Diehl; sister, Vicky Kapaun; brothers, Evert Boyne, Allen Boyne, Gary Boyne, Dickie Boyne, Wayne Boyne, and Charles Boyne.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Rick Turner officiating. Barb’s family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until the time of her service.
