Barbara Jean Johnson

Barbara J. Johnson, 62, of Caseville died Sunday, August 16, 2015 at her home.

Barbara was born June 24, 1953 in Dearborn to Jean (Gagnon) and the late Harlan Hanes. She was a 1971 graduate of Crestwood High School in Dearborn Heights and later from St. Clair County Community College with a degree in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Scheurer Hospital and United Hospice. She was co-owner of the Caseville Water Slide, Riverside Marina, and American Spirit Pyrotechnics. She was a former member of the Caseville Eagles and St. Roch Catholic Church. She enjoyed softball, reading, writing and genealogy. She had a heart of gold, and loved helping both people and animals, doing whatever she could to make other’s lives better.

She is survived by her husband Stephen; children Lisa (Dale) Grifka of Bad Axe, Sandra (Jeff) Rehak of Arkansas, Brenda (Brian) Peruski of Essexville, Ray Johnson of Florida and Jeremy Johnson of Bad Axe; step-children Sheryll (Marty) Twork of Royal Oak and Chris Johnson of Texas; 10 grandchildren; mother Jean Hanes of Traverse City; and brothers James (Patricia) Hanes of Traverse City and Ron (Cathy) Hanes of Melvindale.

She was preceded in death by her father Harlan Hanes, husband Wally Johnson; brother Rick Hanes and grandson Logan Sattler.

Funeral services will be at 6:00pm Thursday, August 20th at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm Thursday and continue until the service at 6:00pm.
