Barbara Frances Linzner , age 96, of Unionville, passed away peacefully at Northwood Meadows Nursing Home in Cass City.
Barbara was born in Unionville on November 11, 1926, to Walter G Strieter and Esther L (Martens) Strieter. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Unionville, where she was a lifelong member. Barbara graduated in 1945 from Unionville High School. She worked for a phone company a few years, then she and a few friends left for Detroit and worked in a factory like a 'Rosie the Riveter' for the war effort. After the war she moved back to Unionville. She married John D. Lowthian on June 19, 1948 and were married for 26 years. He preceded her in death. She married Karl D. Linzner on November 12, 1976, and were married for 29 years. He also preceded her in death. Barbara also worked for Prime's Supermarket in Unionville, did upholstery, taught knitting to women and kids, did bookkeeping and the timesheets for Linzner Farms. She enjoyed reading, loved her cats, and will be greatly missed by all the neighborhood cats.
Barbara is survived by her children: Pamela Aumock of Unionville, Marsha (Tom) Farenger of Port Sanilac, Timothy (Karen) Lowthian of Unionville, Carl (Gloria) Linzner of Unionville, Frank (Josie) Linzner of Bay City, Margaret (Michael) Seltz of Bay City, daughter-in-law Kelly Linzner of Unionville, Kenneth (Rita) Linzner of Unionville and Stephen (Robin) Linzner of Unionville; grandchildren: Aaron (Amy) Aumock, Stephanie (Don) Thomas, Michelle Shipley, Heather (Joe) Hamlette, Erin (James) Goslee, Sara (Chris) Lowthian-Hanna, Emily (Andy) Holtrop, Carla (Mike) Alderson, Nicholas Linzner, Jodi Linzner, Jeremy (Tina) Karnath, Rebecca Fritz and Denise, Adam (Josona) Linzner, Alyson Patterson, Erika (Adrian) Farley, Ryan (Kelly) Linzner, Julianna (Scott) Kowalczyk, Megan Linzner and Randy, Amanda (Chris) Koch, Anna Linzner and Luke and Zachary (Cheylo) Linzner; 38 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Vivian Spencer' sisters-in-law: Margie Strieter and Joan Smiley; brother-in-law, Peter Gokey; and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands; son, Robert Linzner; son-in-law, Raymond Aumock; granddaughter, Jennifer Mohr; 2 great grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Jacquelyn) Strieter and Walter (Sara) Strieter; sister, Margaret (Elmer) Schwartz; brothers-in-law: Robert Spencer and Charles Smiley; and sisters-in-law: Agatha Gokey and Anna Gjarmati.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Juengel-Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2-8pm.
The funeral service will be Thursday, March 23, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Unionville. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am. Pastor Steven Stolarczyk will be officiating.
Burial services will be private at Columbia Township Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Cass River Pet Friendz.
