Barbara Ellen Orlik

Barbara Ellen Orlik, 74, of Pigeon, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe surrounded by family.

Barbara was born March 23, 1945 in Bad Axe to the late Raymond and Loise (Yoder) Swartzendruber. She graduated from Laker High School in 1963. She retired from Scheurer Hospital in 2015 as a certified nurse’s aid, after a 51 year career in nursing. She was a member of Pigeon River Mennonite Church and their Sewing Circle. She enjoyed shopping trips with her friends and sisters. She was a baker and was known for her eclairs. She was a big fan of WWE wrestling. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.

She is survived by her children Amanda (Jason Gorsegner) Lackie of Caseville and Shawn (Jaime) of Bad Axe; grandchildren Zoe, Mason, and Adaline; siblings Les (Beth) Swartzendruber, Karen (Mike) Osterhout, Treva (Larry) Dressler, Marvin (Chris) Swartzendruber and Debra (Ralph) Swartzendruber. She was preceded in death by infant son Troy.

Funeral services will be 2:00pm Friday, January 10th at Pigeon River Mennonite Church with Rev. Dave Maurer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:00am Friday and continue until the time of the service at church. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
